New Clip Earring Collection By Zandra Rhodes
Zandra Rhodes is a true icon of British fashion. Anyone whose fashion is so impactful they get made a CBE – that’s Commander of the British Empire – is at a different level to most! Although her early textile work was considered outrageous by the standards of the 1960s, she went on to become a punk trend setter in the 70s and design clothing for Diana, Princess of Wales. With hair that’s been as colourful as her career, the 71 year old ambassador for English style still has plenty of ideas left.

One of those has been a collaboration with Adele Marie London to create a range of luxury costume jewellery inspired her classic works. Adele Marie London have been queen of British costume jewellery since Adele Vanderkar left Harvey Nichols to start the label. It’s at the pinnacle of what you can get in costume jewellery with sumptuous textiles mixing with Swarovski crystals and gorgeous beads of peak quality. As such, it’s right at the divide between outright fine jewellery or art and daily wearables which is what made Adele Marie London the perfect choice for Zandra Rhodes’ new jewellery collection.
Viewing the collection with Stuart Thomas, director of Adele Marie London, I was treated to a feast the day before the range officially is unveiled by Zandra herself at the Pure London Fashion Show. There’s a range of statement clip on earrings, all beautifully created here in the UK to a very high standard and presented with Zandra’s etching on. The packaging and presentation seal the deal as collectables that will surely appreciate in value with time whilst giving powerful statement wear in the meantime. Rounding off the collection are other pieces inspired by Zandra Rhodes’ early work; Stuart told me of the amount of time spent in her London workshop, leafing through old textiles and designs to capture the spirit of a woman who has made huge sweeping statements in the fashion world.
The Zandra Rhodes by Adele Marie Collection will launch in August this year and will be available through us and I’d expect Harrods and Harvey Nicholls too. We’ll keep you posted on advance ordering a little closer to the time as well as whether there will be an initial number of hand signed pieces available!
